One Fateful Day: A Masked Avenger Character Profiles
A superhero I made based on myself when I was 14 years old. His look has not changed in all these years. Some would say he got his powers from a laser pointer. I would say he has no powers at all. Nor does he seem to have the physique. Just an overactive imagination. I spent many days in my youth pretending I was a superhero I made up named Shadow. That being said you could consider his superpower as knowing his creator, me, who attempts to help him in both his personal life and his crime fighting endevours. The goal was to have an on going series that would take place in the space of one day. In which he would create and meet many of those who would become his villains, being often the cause of why they turned evil, directly or indirectly. I find it funny that often the heroes become heroes, and villains become villains at the same time.
Our hero's alter ego. Not great with the ladies. As rough as life can be things always seem to work out in the end.
The goal was always to have Mat stuggle with his love life. Have him awkward around girls like I was. Can you image his horror when he drives over the cat of the girl he loves. Good luck trying to talk to her now.
Every hero needs a sidekick. Just wait, don't many heroes work alone? Our sidekick could not afford to buy a costume or make a decent one so he used what he had around the house. A paper bag for a mask. His sister's balarena tutu for tights. Winter gloves and boot. And a towel around his neck for a cape.
I wanted to have a villain that in his villainous plot purposely created common items we use every day that present a potential small longterm harm to people, thinking he was inflicting a great evil on the world. And have the hero genuinely concerned. Creating things like microwaves and cell phones, even laser pointers. I like villains that run businesses and organizations in which they are clearly villains, but no one knows, but the hero. Taking that to the extreme where his names is Max Greenbills, his company is E.V.I.L.S Inc, and his skyscraper is a giant snake. Doesn't get much more evil than that. In the same sense the villain seeing this hero with no know powers as a threat to his empire. What if your greatest villain was also the father of the woman you love?
Dr Long Arm
He was the first villain I created. He didn't start that way. He was a scientist who intended to use his inventions for the greater good. He used a growing ray on his brain to make it bigger and grow smarter. He figured he would get the braun to go with the brains, using the ray on his arm. Instead of growing stronger they grew longer. The thing I like about his story is pur hero is the reason he becomes a villain. His villainous plan? To rid the world of daylight savings. Then they will lose that one day they get to sleep an extra hour. Mwah hahahaha.
Anvil for a Head
A stunt double for an animation studio. He took to many anvils to the head and one stuck. He not so much a cillain and a guy who can see with a heavy weight on his head causing him to lose balance stumbling into things. Of course Our hero clearly sees him as a villain.
Lazer Pointer Man
He became a teacher to change lives. Well, years later he has become disgruntled. Mat, a brilliant but lazy student, was the last straw. He used shone a laser pointer in Mat's eyes creating a masked avenger. My plan was always to have a laser pointer being the catalyst in creating a masked avenger. What better way then a teacher whose had enough trying to keep the attention of his students? If you're wondering where this comes from...I didn't pay attention or try very hard at school (I even played guitar during one of my classes for several days) but I did very well and graduated laureate merit.
So I had written a funny joke about robots gaining sentience, but at the time I had no characters that would talk anout such things. Thus was born Gus and Gary. They are two every day joes working for an evil organization. These videos were ment to be short. Something I could make in a couple weeks between other bigger productions. With no lip sync they shouldn't take long. I wanted a generic look to them with no expression on the outside. The goal was to give personality and relateability to them. Grumpy Gary is a bit of a complainer.
He may not look much different that Gary, but I assure you he is. He's facing the other direction. Gus is perhaps a little simple and neive. I'm not sure if he knows he's working for an evil organization.
Frosty the Evil Snowman
When they told his story they got it wrong. Frosty was an evil snowman who wanted to bring winter upon the world and ruin their day. To be honest people didn't mind the snow. Kids got to stay home and play in the snow.
Ex #1 Fan
What happens when you're maybe a little too honest? People may get offened. This once fan and aspiring sidekick of our hero could not believe how rude his hero was. Was it bullying? Who's to say? Okay it may have been. When I first created Masked Avenger I was a bit of a bully, especially towards larger people. This is kinda making fun of me, being a bully. And yes you will probably offend people if you make fun of them. And having been bullied you don't necessarily want to push people to their breaking point. Is Ex #1 Fan a villain? Not really, he just really hates our hero. Though for sone reason he'd trade it all for another shot at being a side kick.
